Many Windows procedures require you to have access to hidden system files and folders. These instructions will tell you how to enable that capability.

Click on the Start button and then on My Computer.

Click the Tools menu and then select the Folder Options... menu entry.

Click on the View tab.

Select the option to Show hidden files and folders and uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) option. Click Yes on the warning that pops up.

Here is what you want the options to look like:

Click the OK button to save your settings and close the Folder Options window.

Click on the Start button and then on Computer.

Click the Organize button and then select the Folder and Search Options menu entry.

Click on the View tab.

Select the option to Show hidden files and folders and uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) option. Click Yes on the warning that pops up.
